Discussion Points:
- What would you consider to be your 'Digital Thread'?
- Your bio reads like a who's who of oil and gas process leadership from i2 and Schlumberger through CGI, KBC, and WellAware. Working on the front lines of process control, what were your top three takeaways?
- In 2018, you joined LNS Research, industrial research and advisory firm. What drew you to the company?
- Your experience informs "Waking Sleeping Giants. Releasing the Kraken," a recent piece you wrote on the LNS Industrial Transformation blog. Given Momenta's Digital Industry investment emphasis, our team found this to be incredibly informative, as you record the digital transformation path of the top automation vendors: ABB, Emerson, Honeywell, Rockwell Automation, Schneider Electric, Siemens, and Yokogawa. What inspired you to write the piece?
- LNS has used digital maturity model called the "Zone of Transition" to assess the digital progress of each of these companies. The model is reminiscent of the Gartner Hype Cycle and "Crossing the Chasm" change management cycle. Why does the process automation space need a special model?
- As mentioned in the article, the so-called 'giants' are no longer sleeping. Who do you consider the leader in this pack, and what have they done that bears repeating by the others?
- One group of 'giants' not mentioned in the article are the so-called "hyper-scalers": AWS, Google, and Microsoft. What impact do you think they will have on the traditional giants?
- Every industry has its digital disruptors along the same lines – such as Tesla for automobiles or SpaceX for space travel. Will we see such disruptors for industrial and process automation? What do you see as the time frames?
- As you know, we are avid investors in the space. What trends and startups are you watching?
- Where do you find your inspiration?
