Cybersecurity continues to rank high as a concern among companies looking to adopt IoT solutions. With the increasing scale and severity of attacks in the last couple of years including the Mirai botnet and Wannacry ransomware, the threat landscape continues to get more severe. At the same time, cybersecurity researchers discover more and more vulnerabilities in connected products and weaknesses like blueborne and KRACK. We expect cyberattacks to continue in 2018 as criminals exploit weak or non-existent security in connected devices, from wind farms to energy companies. We know that in IIoT, security weaknesses can not only damage profits and business reputation but also can risk lives if machinery or robotics are interfered with.
